cleaning brake dust off wheels and plastic hub caps 200

So what's the best way to get all that nasty brake dust off the wheel rims and plastic hub caps?

I've tried soaking the caps in a big tub w/ hot water and simple green, that seemed to work some. I've tried waxing the hub caps to prevent accumulation, that seemed to help. Wheel cleaner and scrub brush on the rims, but there's always some left....

It's time to do it again, so I'm all ears if anybody has any tips.
Thanks
JP
