I think I killed my car... you be the judge. 200 1992

I was driving home my $600 220k miles '92 240 with overdrive and engine temp gauge not currently working. I came to a stop and all I heard was a clanging within the engine and noticed steam coming from under the hood. I was .5 miles from home and wanted to make it so I stepped on the gas and it stalled. I didn't even try and restart it because I knew something was terribly wrong. I pushed it/rolled down hills to my home and made it home.

This morning, I filled the radiator tank all the way up because it leaked all out when it overheated and realized there is major leakage of water from the engine or tranny (auto). Checked trans and engine oil, both are at an ok range.

I added a bit of oil because I'm sure I burned whatever was in there up, even though the amount read correct. Started it and it ran at a slow idle, no increase in water leaking from under the car. The idle was slow and it just sounded different then normal.

I wanted to try and put it in gear and I got no response (like it going into gear) when I put it into drive. I pressed the gas and it stalled. The engine will now turn over but will not start.

Please, tell me what I did to my Volvo.
