1992 240 wagon stalling intermittently while driving and sometimes at traffic lights 200

any ideas why this non turbo automatic brick is doing this.

it will always start up and restart easily no matter.
cold, hot, after stalling......always

sometimes while driving the engine will just stop. no dash lights come on when this happens. they only come on at traffic light stalling.

sometimes when it stalls while driving the engine will restart soemtimes it won't and if i have to pull over it restarts first time.

lately it is stalling at traffic lights while idling....not often but enough to scare the wife. it will always restart with no trouble.

i recently replaced the starter motor and had a good look under there while doing so.

i noticed and plan to replace in a few days the O2 sensor which i noticed has the insulation worn off one of the wires exposing a 1/4inch bare spot. the wires are intact except for that small bare spot. (could this be the culprit?)
i suspect this wearing off occured as a reult of the wires coming intact with the turning drive shaft (there a universal joint right there)

anyway any of the most the most likely ideas would be helpful for me to begin this mouse hunt.
