16 Volts? In my battery the problem. 120-130 1967

Blue Horse is so right, and you are so lucky.


Here's why: With no battery to charge, the alternator voltage regulator "sees" that it needs to produce more. It does that by making the output voltage higher. If let alone, if will make more than those 16 volts. Then watch your bulbs and radio and other electronics, see if they smoke or just go poof?

So to answer your other question, yes, your system is operating OK.
