PLEASE HELP installing an APEXI turbo timer 700 1989

i have been needing to install a timer for ages now on my 88 740 (mitzubishi)turbo ..i like the look of the APEXI made in japan timer, but i am not happy with the wiring instructions supplied which reads, to connect the parking brake safety feature the parking brake wire should read 0 volts when the brake is up and 12 volts when the brake is down.

my understanding is that when the parking brake is applied or pulled (up) the switch is closed (grounded) which lights up dash warning light and 12 volts..when its released (down) the switch is open and not grounded which gives 0 volts (off) ...this to me seems opposite to APEXI hand brake wiring ..surely its a printing mistake (heaps of them)..i really want to make use of this feature......help needed...thanks in advance daryl
