Why not drop the AW70 pan? 200

Hi everybody. I have a 93 240 with an AW70. The tranny works well except for the standard 1-2 shift bump. I plan to do a cooling return line flush soon and have a couple questions.

1. Should I drive around for a couple miles with a cleaner in the oil like Sea Foam, etc., before doing the flush?

2. What's the best type/brand of Dexron III to use?

3. Why do people (and now I guess Volvo) recommend NOT dropping the pan and changing the screen? I would think at least just dropping the pan, cleaning it and the magnet would just get more dirt out of the unit.

4. Has anybody had any success with adding a seal softener or any other tranny fluid additive to make the unit operate smoother?

Thank you all,

Mark
