B230 engine rebuild???? 200 1993

My beloved 93 245 is at 197K miles on the original engine (head rebuilt at 165K miles). I've scored a complete set of standard size rings, main bearings, rod bearings, gaskets, etc for $200 from eBay.
I'm planning on rebuilding this engine in the 2007 summer, but my mechanic friend says if it aint burning oil...leave it alone.
I'm a preventive type of Volvo owner...and I'd rather rebuild (I'll be doing most of the labor myself)now instead of after it gets all sloppy inside.
Am I crazy to do it and not get a used low milage engine?
thanks,
el raidman
