Water pump design for the red blocks - commentary

Heh, just did this job yesterday in a 91 740. Yeah, theres nothing to pry against. I think I used the top of the... power steering pump? Hmm. There oughta be a better way.

I never did care for the timing cover design, and remember, most of us are used to the second revision of it- the B21/23 engine had a totally different setup than the B230 many of us are used to working on. They COULD have made it easier, and instead they made it difficult, with the top cover behind the WP pulley, and the int shaft inside the lower cover, and the sketchy timing marks. I'm sure it all made sense to some 23-yr-old just-outta-college mechanical engineer, but he never replaced a timing belt on a car, now did he?
