Water pump design for the red blocks - commentary

Doh, I didn't see a bolt for the pipe on my 1990 16 valve engine. Maybe it is under the exhaust manifold. Should have looked harder and saved myself 1/2 the work.

Yes, the Ford 3.8's were known for head gasket problems. I am on my third 3.0 powered wagon with no problems to speak of other than routine stuff. I deliberately bought used Taurus wagons that were old enough to see if they were bad tranny years or not. Pre 90 was bad, bad again around 92 but otherwise ok. Touch wood.
