Exhaust Advice Needed... 200 1993

My '93 has a major exhaust leak right where the downpipe and cat bolt together. I first thought it was becuase there was no gasket between the two - so I got one and installed it. It was still leaking big time, so I took a really hard look at it and found a crack in the top of the cat right near the clamp. Its the type with a 3 bolt flanged clamp that can spin (no EGR), by the way.

The rest of the system is welded together (Midas crap I think), but is pretty new (according to PO records).

Should I just get the crack welded up? Can they weld a crack on a cat (with the cat on the car no less, since its all welded)? Or should I get a new cat (~$150 from FCP G)?

If I get a new cat, I can use the Sawzall to cut the old one off - but how will it hook up to the rest of the system? Will it need to be welded on?

Thanks guys!
