Sway Bar Link Snapped 200 1992

I heard a clunking sound on my '92 245 while taking an entrance ramp, and the sound continued after that when hitting bummps or turning. Looked underneath and saw the sway bar link in the front right was broken. I've got a few questions.

1. Would this happen because my struts are worn out? I know I need to replace them.

2. Should i replace the links on both sides, even though only one broke?

3. This looks like a pretty simple repair, just loosening a couple of nuts and installing. Any unforseen surprizes? Like bushings to remove with a special tool?
