740 frame rail cancer 700

two of my fleet of 740s have begun to show the dreaded frame rail cancer under the rustproofing where the front suspension link rod attaches to the frame rail at rear of wheel well. Has anyone had their oncologist do a welding repair for this? Does the shop merely fishplate some steel, or is a new link point welded over new steel on the rail? Is the link attachment (on the frame) an available special order part from my dealer???
