Hi, all. I am coming up on a t-belt replacement on my wife's 945 at 185K miles. I have begun to do this job earlier in the summer, but quit because I thought I may be in over my head. Now, I am not afraid of maintenance and repair work and I've done plenty (with great help from people on this board), but I have never replaced the t-belt and when I got to the part where I had to jam the flywheel to undo the crankshaft pulley nut, I got cold feet and quit. Now the job is really coming due and I need to face up to it. I could not find any words of wisdom in the FAQ, so I am asking here. Any tips and/or tricks such as how to get the harmonic balancer off? Do I really need to bring cylinder 1 to TDC? Seems un-necessary, but manual requires it. Also, my t-belt covers are a mess. Should I buy new ones now? I did replace the tensioner last year, so I am ok there. Any and all wisdom and gotchas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance as usual.
