Water in the fuel tank 140-160 1970

Are there any easy ways to separate water and gasoline?

The well area where the gas tank sits ('70 145) had about a half inch of water in it. I suspect that water seeped into the tank because the filler hose was submerged. I could always smell gas back there and figured the hose was no good. I tried to find a new filler hose months ago, but I guess they are no longer available. Now I'm paying for it!

The car died due to water contamination. It was easy to see the water in the fuel bowls so I think there is a lot in the tank. Probably more than a couple of cans of dry gas could handle.

As luck would have it, the tank was full. I am going to try to siphon off the top 10 gallons and evaporate the rest. Good idea? Would the top 10 gallons be useable in another car that is injected? Gas floats on water so I'm thinking I'd be ok.

Otherwise, I am finding out how difficult it is to dispose of contaminated gasoline properly. Any ideas?

Thanks
