I recently bought a used "Large tach, small clock" for my 1990 240DL.
The installation was trouble free, with the exception of having to re-zero the tach. The little light bulb on the clock was burnt out, so I had to get a new one. Some of the light bulbs on the 240 are a dealership or IPD only item. (I've even had trouble getting them at the local "import auto" parts store.) I had the day off today, so I did some work around the house and them headed out to Pep Boys and Harbor Freight to do some brousing... The local Volvo dealership was on the way, so I figured I would just pop in and get the bulb. The parts lady handed me a loose bulb, and for a minute I thought that she was just going to give it to me. No luck today, she went to ring it up I asked her how much it was and she said "$8.89". I thought she was joking, but she wasn't. Almost $10.00 with tax. I let her know that was ridiculous, and that some body else would have to pay that much, becasue it wasn't going to be me!
Is it just me, or does that seem to be an excessive price?
BTW, I went to O'Reilly's and bought a two pack of bulbs, # 74, for $2.48 with tax and it fit just fine.

If it needs to be maintained, repaired or replaced on a 1990 240, I've probably done it. '90 240DL, 245K looking forward to 300K badge. >>You haven't really worked on a car until you draw blood<< :-}
