transmission slipping, brown fluid 700

My AW71 has been slipping the last two days. It literally just started doing it, it seems. My fluid is a reddish brown to brown color and definitely does not smell burnt, but judging by the color it definitely needs to be changed. I bought some fluid and a transmission filter to do a flush of it. Is there a chance that my transmission is fried or is it more likely that it just needs a fluid change? It sometimes seems like it slipped badly, but then the fluid doesn't smell burned and I never smell or hear any bad things. Any opinions?
