Failed Fuel Pump?? 95 940 900

95 940 180k miles, non turbo, florida car. Have read FAQs, but am confused because they don't specify which year/model they refer to. (Do I have in-tank prepump?, the arrow on the fuel filter should point to the rear?? Does the 95 940 have a check valve?)

Three weeks ago, late evening, no rain, car cranked, but did not start. Waited a few minutes, disconnected AMM, drove home 9 miles, no problem. Next day reconnected AMM, started with no problem. Drove over 1000 problem-free miles following 3 weeks (mostly highway), suddenly today it cranks but no start in driveway.

Upon turning to position II, did not hear pump run for 1.5 secs as usual. Installed new (FCP GRoton) spare fuel filter relay, still did not hear fuel pump.

Any ideas/advice appreciated. What is quickest way to determine if fuel pump is history?
