240 died suddenly at highway speed 200

I was driving my 91 wagon on a local highway today and the engine died suddenly. No warning or rough running before it happened. I coasted off the highway and called for a tow. I tried several times to start it while waiting with no luck. After about 15 minutes I tried it again and it started right up and I made it home fine. It's headed to my local mechanic tomorrow but I thought I might get some advice. Any clues on what be going on? I've got 192k miles on the car. Fuel consumption has not dropped. And yes, it does have gas in the tank. Thanks for your help.
