fuel accumulator 200 1979

i've had a feeling for a while now that the fuel accumulator on my 79 242 gt wasn't working as it should. with warm start and idle problems and after having replaced every other part of the fuel delivery system i think its a pretty safe bet. i got another from the dealer and it doesn't have a nipple for the vacuum line (i think its a vacuum line since no fuel dripped out when i removed it), it just has a screw. no mention of a vacuum line in my bentley bosch fuel inject book, though it does mention a screw you take out to check the condition of the accumulator, something i was unable to do because the acc'r from my car has no screw. does anyone know if i can install the acc'r without hooking up the vacuum line from the tank? should i plug the line? remove it at the tank? leave it open? i gues im not 100% sure that the vacuum line goes to the tank. it could go to the filler tube, though i have no idea why it would. will check that now. any help is much appreciated.
