non-a/c power steering line....shorter??? 200

anyone ever installed a non-a/c power steering bracket on a early 240 and ran into problems mounting it with the bottom power steering(hard-line)? the bracket, ect. all goes on fine, but the adjusting of the bracket becomes difficult as the line binds up. so do i need a shorter line or what???

anyone got pics of their set-up or the length of the ps lines???
