'91 940 SE Rough idle

I was 3/4 of the way through a 150 mile drive, when I stopped at an In and Out Burger and got a #2 with onions and a coke. When I started the car it was idling very rough, quite unusual for this car. The tach showed that it was idling slightly above 500 RPM. When it shifted from 1st to 2nd it was a small jolt, not the usual nice smooth shift that I am used to. Then I turned off the AC. Idle returned to normal, shift smoothed out. I'm thinking vacumn hose. I quess that I should check the vacumn hoses coming from the AC. Does anyone else have an idea as to what could be the cause? Maybe it was the onions on the burger.....
