UPDATE - Starter Issue with 1991 240 Wagon - Automatic 200 1991

The car would not start, when turning the key it just clicked so yesterday I had to start the car with a screwdriver on the starter. I did this 3 seperate times to get it to run. Late last night and this morning it started right up. Maybe I have the starter gears/teeth in the right place for the time being. Anyway I notice that my shifter(automatic) is slightly off. When Im in Drive it looks like its in 2nd when I look down at the shifter (the 2 is lit up). Something is off here. Can this be why I am having starting issues? If so how do I fix it. Is it the Nuetral Saftey Swith inside the shifter cover. Do I need to adjust that little white plastic sliding piece? Any help is appreciated
