240 engine seals 200 1992

I have 92 240 with the B230 F engine, I think I will be replacing the three front engine seals soon. I have read where it is not recommended to loosen the crankshaft nut with a impact gun because you run the risk of damaging the crankshaft. Has anyone else heard or experienced that? Also I replaced the flame arrestor, and engine is still leaking, does the oil seperator ever plug on these vehicles?
Thank you
