When you say indentations do you mean slots or round holes?
The pin tool is for holes.
I think I mis-read your post.
In any case,there is a bicycle tool for either application.
The slotted type takes a hook/spanner,rounded with a hook.
There is also a pliers type with two blades that will get stuff
pretty darned tight.
As the other poster suggested examine the method of failure
and develop a cure.
