NY State Inspection and e-codes? 200 1988

Hi-

Finally biting the (expensive) bullet and buying new e-codes from Germany, as well as fancy new taillights for my brick.

Now, before I dispose of the lousy plastic ones, has anyone in New York done this conversion? Do you pass inspection? Or do I need to swap back to the DOT approved junk to pass inspection?

From the DMV website http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm it appears as though since the e-codes are not DOT approved, I would fail inspection.

“Lights
All lighting must be of an approved type and inspected for operation, proper mounting, and broken or missing lenses:
• Headlights (low and high beam).
• Tail lamps.
• Stop lamps.
• Directional signals.
• Backup lights (1969 and newer).
• License plate lights.
• Hazard warning/four-way flasher (1966 and newer).
• Directional signal indicator.”

Thanks in advance!
