240 skreeching while in park. 200

Hello all, I have a odd one I need help with for my buddy. He has an 87 240 with 105K miles on it. Today he backed into the driveway and all of a sudden there was a VERY loud skreeching noise. Kinda like belt squeel but sounded more like it was coming from the tranny/engine interface area. It also kinda happens in park and drive but not as loud. Any ideas as to what this could be?
