Knowledge of ABS limited, need info......

Prior to getting our 1997 965 with ABS, none of our cars ever has had that, Volvos or lesser marques.

In fact, driving a Volvo since 1977 has us spoiled - we have never wished that we had ABS, seldom if ever made skid marks.

Can a vehicle with ABS make skid marks? Is it possible to step on the brakes hard enough to override the ABS and lock one or more wheels? Maybe using both feet on the pedal?

Question comes up in talking about a wreck involving a young driver, a 2-way stop-sign-controlled intersection, impaired visibility (bushes) and a car that may have been speeding. No one was hurt.

Thanks for any and all info,

Bob
