Effect of Low Compression on MPG 700 1989

Hi Will,


Thank you very much for your input - wish I had started out here earlier!
The current situation is the engine is out and at a specialist rebuild shop who have instructions to strip it down to give me measurements and a quote. Having gone this far it does not seem worth saying "stop, just take the head off." Might be too late. Should I do that? There might still be time if I call them first thing tomorrow, that is 0100 EST on 5 October.
