Weird warning lights flash, and now no start 700

Hello everyone:
I have a 1990 740 w/ Regina nad it did a strange thing last night. Driving at about 40mph, in the middle of a 35 mile trip, with lights on, suddenly the instrument cluster warning lights (all of them) flashed dimly for a fraction of a second. Happened twice, about 10 minutes apart. Car continued to run fine, headlights were normal, no hesitation, etc. Even stopped for gas, and it started up normally after I filled up. Then, this morning, came out to go to work and no start. Cranked fine, battery strong, but not even a sputter. Did not have time to check for spark and other diagnosis as I would be late. Any ideas what ths strange symptom might be ? Thanks to all.
