240 or 960? Calling multi-Volvo owners 200

I'd much appreciate some advice/opinion.

I have been looking for a late (91-93) 240 wagon as a supplemental daily driver now that my family is growing (again). A close friend of mine proposed a trade for his '96 960 wagon. This deal would basically mean that I would get his car for no money out of pocket. He is the orignial owner, the car has been well maintained and has no 'issues'. Needless to say, I'm tempted even though the style and color is not my preference.

Question to brickboarder who are or have been Volvo owners of the various models - any specific comments about the 240 v the 960? I am particularly interested in reliability and cost of ownership issues. I would plan on driving this car ~15 k per year.

Any advice sincerely appreciated.
