Look at this Pic of my head 200 1989

My 89 240 died a few months ago and I have decided to determine the cause. I suspected a valve because of the way the engine ran and the fouled #1 plug.

I have begun removing the head and after taking the cam, I found this hole in the front of the head. Please look at this picture. The hole is in front of the 1st bearing surface and directly behind the seat for the cam seal.

This seems to me to be fatal for this head.

If true, I will pursue installing a different, rebuilt one. I hope that I can get some input on this project here as I move thru the steps
