engine cuts off randomly 900 1994

Occassionally when i drive my 1994 940 NA the engine cuts out as if someone turned the ingition key. i pull over and it starts up just fine. the last time this happened to me i heard a small pop/spark near the fuse box behind the ash tray. which fuse or relay should i check out. don't want to go on a wild goose chase. thanks
