leaking oil cooler/filter lines 700 1988

I have been trying to seal the two oil cooler lines on the rear mounted oil filter on a 1988 740T, with no apparent success. I have tried new aluminium sealing washers twice, and the thing still leaks. I have cleaned the threads well, and torqued the fittings to the point I am afraid I might strip them, and the blasted things continue to drip. Is there some kind of sealant that I can use? I was thinking along the lines of an oil resistant teflon type sealant tape, if such a thing exists. I just finished putting in a new clutch and rear oil seal, and was looking forward to no more oil drips. Any one ever have this problem?
