Hey all,
Been a while... I guess since I've last been on... damn...
In the past couple months, I guess teh Volvos have all just been running perfectly as expected ;-)
Actually, that's not entirely true...
I guess I was last on Brickboard a couple months or more ago. Since then, I've found myself to be a married man...
My wife and I took off on a road trip a couple weeks after our wedding... from Colorado to the east coast in my '84 wagon which at the time showed about 265k on the clock. It did fine. Minor heater core leak sprang up first day of the trip, and teh alternator went out on the last day of the trip. Black pepper, stop leak, and dryer weather kept the windshield from fogging up. A pair of new batteries got us home without an alternator... We had lots of fun between here, Maryland, New Jersey, Vermont, Ontario, Michigan, the vintage races at Road America in Wisconsin (Volvo was the featured marque this year)... ~5300 miles total in 2-1/2 weeks.
Anyhow, driving home last night in the first snow of the year, I hear a clunk, the wipers sweep far over to the drivers side (off the windshield), and stop. I drive home in the snow without wipers, and the windshield fogging up again from teh heater core...
Come today, I pull the glove box and find the culprit (pictured below)... that pulley fell off the passenger side wiper pivot. Now.. I've got access to a spare wiper pivot with attached pulley... is that something I could feasably do without taking the dash out? Or would I be better off just taking it in, having it fixed along with the heater core, and maybe some sorting of the vaccuum line system that controls the vents, as I've got issues there too I think... and a new heater fan while they'd be in there... even though it currently works fine.
I'd rather just have wipers again for now, but I've never been in there, and it looks like a bit of a nightmare...
In all honesty, getting the work done would likely cost more than the car is worth, but.. I've put a lot into it lately so it's really in solid mechanical shape... rusty and ugly be it may...
Any thoughts appreciated...
