Many thanks to all who have responded to my question. After some consideration and realizing that I just don't have the time nor patience to try to do it myself, I located a shop that will do it for me at $370. Given that my car has been so good to me for the six years that I've owned it, this is a relatively small price to pay.

By the way, when I told the shop owner that I had an '87 Volvo, he said "I wish I had one of those...." Thanks again to a wonderful group of fellow volvans or is it volvanians -- well best regards.
