Alternator warning light (from Manual) 700 1989

1989 745T.

From my manual, P 11:

Alternator warning light.
If the light comes on whule the engine is running, check the tension of the alternator drive belt as soon as possible.

NOTE: This warning light is illuminated if the alternator is not charging. However, parking brake, brake failure and bulb failure warning lights will be illuminated at the same time due to the design of the system.

[emphasis added]

This is EXACTLY what happened to me when my alternator belt broke, although I didn't think it was the alternator because 4 lights were on instead of just the alternator charging light. I thought it was something to do with key tumbler sticking.
