Bad vibrations....driveline? 200 1984

Hello all,

My 84 245 has developed a bad vibration when coming to a stop. I know what warped rotors feel like, and it's not that, it's not the front end either.

This vibration can be felt in the seat of the pants, it comes up through the seat back and into the headrest.

It seems to originate in the center or rear of the car. I suspect it is driveline related, due to changes in the suspension or pinion angle under braking.

I did a quick check tonight, jacked it up and looked at the suspension, and tranny\engine mounts. Nothing looked out of place.

Could this be bad U-joints? I guess there is no way to check the U-joints other than to drop both ends of the driveshaft and check for abnormalities?

Am I on the right track here, or are there other things I should look at?

Thanks for any help,
