Timing will not affect mixture. If your car is non-turbo - it's LH 2.4 and timing not adjustable. Turbo will be LH 2.2 with pickup in distributor...timing set conventional way. Both systems only require that the throttle sensor switch is closed at idle for you to check basic timing.
