The dealers are a real rip off, but if you can't find the part anywhere else, what can you do? Sometimes you need to invest a bit of money to keep your car in good order.
I don't mean to be rude but you do not sound like the type of person suited to owning a 26 year old car that, like any other 26 year old car needs maintenance and will cost money sometimes.
