Bushing Replacements 200 1989

Hi Byron,

I purchased my 240 new and picked her up in November, 1987. I was an outside sales rep for a biotech company in Southern Cal and driving 35,000 - 50,000 per year. Here's the best part - I got a $400.00 monthly car allowance AND they paid 33 cents per mile = they paid for my Volvo, as the payment was $440.00!

I've been really strict with my maintenance, especially the fluids. I run Castrol or Valvoline 20/50 and change the oil every 3,000. I really think that I'd have a shot at still having the original tranny, except I did'nt know to flush 'em. I now flush the tranny every 20,000 miles and have never dropped the pan in over 300,000 miles. It shifts real smooth.

I just recently started rebuilding the suspension - HD Bilsteins, TME lowering springs, poly bushings so far, with sways + chassis braces due at the end of the month. It rides very smooth and handles well.

After the suspension, I'm going to go to stainless steel brake lines and then begin the body prep for paint. It's original paint as well, so let's just say that the California sun can probably finish beating the paint off the car within another year or two :) I'm going to take a class at a local community college and then take another class in auto upholstery to get black leather.

Then the motor. I'm goin to build a B230FT (yes, I'll relocate the distributor) and wait for my current B230F to expire. Based on history, I might be in for a long wait!

Good Luck
