740 wouldn't start - fixed, nowwon't stay running aka NOW what did i break?! 700 1992

A new Volvo owner here learing the ins and outs the hard way. Engine all the sudden cranked but would'nt start. Long story short, after a lot of reading, a new distributor cap, coil and ICM, I discovered that the problem was the crankcase position sensor.

Woohoo, the car starts! I take it out and it stalls. Other times, it doesn't stall, just loses power completely and eventually regains as I step on the pedal. No rpms on the tach, I think.

The car never had problems running before, just starting. I'm thinking that perhaps I screwed something up as I struggled to reach the bolt to the position sensor on the bell housing. Or maybe not. When daylight arrives, I'll be checking and rechecking connectors and looking for something that just doesn't look right.

If anyone can offer any direction or suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
