looking to purchase a 940 or 740 advice-tips?

I have a 1990 740 GL low milage sedan. looks great at 16 years of age paint still as new,no rust gives great milage and feels safe to be in.

I also have a 1992 940 Turbo wagon, it is nicer appointed than the GL ie all leater interior, 16" Virgo wheels as opposed to the 15" steel ones on the GL,
most 940s have a posi-tract differential and are better in snow that the 740.

Over all both are great cars, the turbo will use a little more gas but gives a better ride, and the turbo will wind up and get you there as fast as you want in todays traffic.

I end up using the wagon for longer trips , just got back from Newfoundland to Ontario a 6500k trip with no problems try that in most other cars that are 14 years old.and the GL around town better milage.

The most important factor is condition, and service levelsprovided on your proposed purchase.
In my opinion, look for the latest, model , lowest milage, and best maintained rear wheel driver 2.3 turbo you can find, change the oil, every 5000k and enjoy a great car.

Enjoy John
