Standard or Automatic Tranny 200

I'm thinking of getting another 140. The "new" one would be for me and the 5 speed is for my daughter when she finishes school next year.
Are the automatic trannys as good as the 5 speeds? The 5 speed I have seems bullet proof. An ebay seller says this, however, "Like all automatic Volvo's, the overdrive works intermittenly."
How does the voting go on this?
If I only want to change a clutch from time to time, and NOT deal with other tranny related problems, should I look for another 5 speed?
