Push accelerator, hesitation, roughish idle 200 1988

Ny poor baby 244-

I've been admiting a 245, and she got p-o-ed at me. I'm driving her 2x a week +/- (wife just got a new v50, and loves it, drives me to work so she can enjoy it), and recently when I accelerate pretty hard from a stop or from low speed (10mph or less) there is no acceleration for a while, and the engine sounds/feels rough. Is it time for another AMM? I repaced it about a year and a half ago, and I think it was similar symptoms before I had to pull it and limp home till I got the part.

The question:

Do I order another air mass meter, or is there some other gremlin rearing its tricky head? Could it be that I'm not driving it enough? Tank is always kept at 50% full or better...

I'd like to keep driving it, but am reluctant to do so unless I have the parts ready in the car. 4 month old bably in the backseat would not take kindly to being towed.

Any thoughts? What can an idiot (that's me) test to figure out the problem?
