Considering the rising cost of new dash pads, it's probably a good idea to protect your dash as much as possible.
I was a AutoZone a while back, and happened to be flipping through the DashMat display.
I noticed that they make a mat to fit the Amazon, but nothing specifically for the PV544. The Amazon dash is about 6" wider than the PV, but otherwise they are identical, with the hump for the dash gauge panel in the same place.
From experience, I knew that the cloth DashMat isn't a very good product. The carpet version is much better at the same cost. I decided to give them a try, to see if I could make the Amazon mat fit into the 544.
I ordered the carpet fabric, in a deep burgundy to match my paint color.
Once the cover arrived, I tried it in place and found that I was correct; the new mat was about 3" too long on each end.
I sat down and clipped the stitching to free the edge bindings on both ends. Them I put it back on the dash and marked where it would need to be trimmed.
After I had cut it down to the correct size, I hand-sewed the bindings back on and installed it with the sticky Velcro tabs supplied. Each end of the cover was tucked under the bottom of the chrome A pillar trim.
If you want to be able to remove the cover for shows, you can eliminate the Velcro tabs and just hold it in place with the chrome trim pieces.
I've used this product on a lot of different cars and so far, after having some of them in place for several years, I haven't noticed any fading or shrinking.
My dash looks great, under $30 for the whole job - a whole lot cheaper than buying a new dash cap!
Enjoy!
