1990 240 SRS light one 200 1990

Does any one know how to diagnose the SRS system on a 1990 240 DL Wagon? I've reviewed information in the FAQ and have evaluated the orange and yellow wire connections next to the transmission tube, but can get no further. I don't know how to read fault codes for the SRS because this model is not equipped with the "B" side of the fault code reader (in the engine compartment). Any info would be helpful.

One thing that may or maynot be useful information is that within days of hte SRS light illuminating, I started to get a scraping noise when I turn the steering wheel. This may also be weather related becuase the noise only occurs in the AM when its cold (getting to mid 30s now in MAine). Once the passenger compartment warms, the noise stops, but the SRS light remains illuminated.

No other idiot lights remain on after starting.

Thanks!

POG
