knock sensor probs 200

Hi,
My check engine light has been going on in my '90 245. Every time it went on I would lose power so I had it checked out and the code said "knock sensor". So I got a used one put in, it lasted about 3 days before the same thing happened. Every fifth time I start my car the light goes off and I can drive around for a while with no probs until I try to give it some juice merging or something and then, blammo, it comes on again.

I know the knock sensor retards timing when it detects too much vibration, but what could be causing the vibration? I've tried using superunleaded gas for a while to reduce ping but that doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kevin
