Tailgate gaskets 140-160 1970

Yes, the later window was moved out on the new
gasket to hang the drip. It should work also.
I noticed butyl flex in the channels of the
gasket from the factory install, when I took
the glass out of my '71-145 for paint.
Same on 72 ES.
The bodymen recommended that I not disturb
the alloy center trim,so I flipped the gasket back,
took the glass out,and treated the window/seal as a unit.
I used Seapower rubber boat and fender cleaner
and preservative, and a burgundy scotch brite and tooth brush
to clean the channel, then fed it some spray silicone
from the cap with the toothbrush. Then installed it with a 4mm
windsurf nylon cord. I am hoping the silicone swelled it up enough
to seal, but it hasn't rained here yet.
Yes, tail gate seal is same however silicone may soften it enuf to seal.
Hard to install esp around upper corners, had to heat-gun,
and bend tip of plastic trim 'bone' to hook it into channel.
1 to hold it up 1 to stuff with door on.
Door seals are same too, poached them from an 86/244-DL
IPD ones were way fat and doors wouldn't close at all properly.
Caveat Emptor OEM Rules.
Also see 444-544 thread 'lube for rubber bushings'
Post back,if you have questions, I have a friend in the paint buisness.
REALLY Love My 145-S
Ken
