Wont fire - will fire 200

My old brick usually starts on the quarter turn, come rain come shine, even after standing idle for several weeks.

Yesterday, she would have none if it. I turned the engine for 5 second bursts repeatedly for about 10 goes and gave up.

This morning, I stuck my head under the hood to checked the electricals, injectors, fuel pump (which I could not hear) and fuses. Nothing seemed out of place. So I got in, turned the ignition and she fired up instantly.

???? I have not a clue as to what this is all about. Have any on you experienced this, and suggestions on how to avoid this in future, especially as my wife is taking the brick on a trip through France and Belgium tomorrow????
