Removing Upper Dash Pad 1800 1970

Well to do it right, you need to pull the whole dash. The dash then seperates into three parts; upper section, middle section (with the holes in it for the gagues) and the lower section (around the steering column, ash tray etc.)

Thus to get the whole dash out, you end up pulling the steering wheel and all the gauges. I have done it on an earlier car. I'm not sure if the later 1800's had a one-piece oil/water temp gauge. If yes, then, you end up draining oil of the engine to get the oil temp gauge out and fishing it out carefully.

Can you see why folks buy the crappy plastic covers and just glue them over the top, rather than all this stuff?
